Saxophonist Kenny G delighted airplane travelers from Tampa to San Francisco recently after a flight attendant asked to musician to assist her in raising funds for American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. Passengers on the flight capture the musician’s performance on cell phones while on the flight, after raising nearly $2,000 for Relay for Life. The flight attendant lost her daughter at the age of 20 to cancer and has since raised money for the organization.
Relay for Life assisst cancer patients and their caregivers with much needed assistance during and after cancer treatments. Relay for Life helps provide transportation to medical appointments, increases self-esteem with support groups and wigs or head coverings for patients and helps to support the caregivers of patients. Each year, Relay for Life events are held across the nation, eleven hours of the teams walking, fundraising and includes a Luminaria ceremony that is held to remember those who lose their battle to cancer, are still fighting the battle or have survived the disease. The event helps the American Cancer Society fund groundbreaking research, crucial patient care programs, and education and prevention information in your area.
